The Berkeley County Historical Society was integral in the preservation of the Old Whitesville School. The Whitesville community is approximately 5 miles south of Moncks Corner. The white frame schoolhouse was constructed in the late 1800s, but was threatened with demolition in the early 2000s. Thanks to the Historical Society and the Office of Coastal Resource Management, the schoolhouse was moved to its current location next to the Berkeley County Museum. The Historical Society now uses the building for meetings and events.
